Two options are available to you. You can either call us to make an appointment with one of our representatives, in which case the service will be explained to you in great detail, or fill out the Joint-member addition form and send it to us by regular mail along with a cheque and the required documents (articles 1.1.3 to 1.1.6 of the aforementioned form). In either case, you must start by making sure that you meet our eligibility criteria, specified in articles 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. We also invite you to verify your eligibility in regard to the content of your driving record (accidents and demerit points, impaired driving, etc.) by carefully reading the "Admission Requirements" section of the "Questions/Answers (FAQ)" page of our website.

If you choose to register by mailing your file to us and your request is approved, it is your responsibility to read the entire Communauto membership contract, as well as the rules and regulations for the use of vehicles, and to have the service explained to you by the Member in whose contract you are about to join, as part of a family membership (the "Member"). Penalties set forth in the Rules & Regulations are applicable if certain rules are not followed.

Along with the documents required in articles 1.1.3 to 1.1.6, if you are the first joint-member to join the account, you must send a cheque payable to the order of Communauto in the amount of $250 for the refundable membership fee. No refundable membership fee is required for the addition of subsequent joint-members.

Following the approval of your subscription request by Communauto, we will send to you, by registered mail, your membership card as well as all the keys and other accessories or information that will allow you to use the service. This package will also include a bill for the package subscription fees which apply (maximum $35/year) and, if applicable, the cost of the deductible reduction option (maximum $30/year), both of which must be the same as those subscribed to by the Member. The amount billed will be prorated in relation to the expiration dates of the package and deductible reduction option subscribed to by the Member (the expiration dates of these two options are the same). For example, if the expiration date of the options already in effect for the Member is in 6 months, only half of the costs incurred will be billed to you.

All the documents that you will have sent us will be returned to you if your subscription request is denied.

Summary of the documents that make up the subscription request that you will send us (please contact us beforehand if your driver’s licence is from outside Quebec):

• a recent (max. 3 months) copy of your driving record from the

• a recent (max. 3 months) original copy of your accident record at the Fichier central des sinistres automobiles du Québec
  
  
• a recent picture of you in ID card format
  
  
• a photocopy of your driver’s licence (front and back if a change of address was made since the licence was issued)
  
  
• a cheque for $250 payable to the order of Communauto (only applicable for the first joint-member)
