60 applications.
Buying transit passes reduces leasing cost

A partnership between the Montreal Transit Corp. and a car-sharing agency aimed at increasing ridership on both has drawn some public interest since it was announced last month.

But don't expect the Duo Auto/Bus project to cause traffic jams any time in the near future."We've received about 60 applications for the program over the past two weeks," said Marco Viviani, spokesperson for Communauto, the car-rental service that allows users to lease a vehicle for as little as half an hour.

Applications for Montreal's version of the partnership were first made available to the public at the Montreal International Auto Show on Jan.18. When the program was announced, Communauto president Benoît Robert noted that Quebec City's version of the program had caused the sale of monthly passes to increase by more than 30 per cent.
